Your Questions, Answered.

  • The ideal camp pup is friendly, social, and comfortable playing in a group. They do not need to be perfectly trained, but they should be able to take direction, be calm in the car, settle down when asked, and have a decent recall in outdoor settings. Dogs who do best in our pack are confident without being pushy, playful without being overwhelming, and happy to share space, trails, and attention with their fellow adventurers.

Off leash hiking in a group is not the right fit for every dog, and that is okay. Dogs with a history of aggression toward other dogs, resource guarding, or a high prey drive that is difficult to redirect may not thrive or stay safe in our pack setting. We want every dog to have a tail wagging, confidence building experience, which means being honest about what our program is built for.

Not sure if your pup is a good fit? Reach out and let’s chat. We are happy to talk through your dog’s personality and history before booking a trial day.

  • We know handing your dog off to someone new is a big deal, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Before your pup joins the pack, we start with a phone call to ask some general questions and learn more about your dog’s personality, history, and needs.

Next, we set up a meet and greet so we can get to know your dog and you can get to know us. We will bring along one of our most trusted and easygoing pack members to see how your dog interacts in a relaxed, low pressure setting. It is a chance for tails to get wagging, for us to learn your dog’s quirks and communication style, and for you to ask every question you have.

After that, your pup will join us for a trial camp day so we can see how they settle into the group, respond in our camp environment, and make sure the experience is safe, fun, and positive for everyone involved.

  • You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email. We aim to respond quickly, usually within one business day.

  • We typically recommend waiting until pups are at least one year old before joining the Timber Tails pack. That said, we know every dog is different and in some cases, we're happy to make exceptions. Reach out to schedule a meet and greet and we'll figure out together if your pup is ready for the adventure.

  • Rain or shine, we're outside doing what we do best. Your pup is guaranteed to come home happily worn out and ready to curl up with you. The only exception is in extreme cold, well below zero, when conditions aren't safe for extended time outdoors.

  • The health and safety of every dog in our pack is our top priority. All dogs must be up to date on rabies, DHPP, Bordetella and distemper vaccinations before joining us. We also strongly recommend Canine Influenza, and Leptospirosis, along with regular flea and tick prevention. It's how we keep the whole pack happy, healthy, and ready for adventure.

  • We currently serve Hinesburg, Charlotte, Williston, Monkton, Starksboro, Huntington, and Richmond. If you live nearby, feel free to reach out and we will see if we can accommodate your area.

  • When you join the Timber Tails family, you can expect so much more than just a place for your dog to spend the day. You can expect someone that genuinely loves your pup like their own, keeps you in the loop, and treats every dog as the individual they are.

From your very first meet and greet, we take the time to get to know your dog, their personality, their quirks, and what makes them happiest. That knowledge doesn't just stay with us at drop-off. It shapes every interaction, every trail romp, and every overnight stay.

You can expect real outdoor adventure, genuine care, and the kind of peace of mind that only comes from knowing your dog isn't just safe, but that they're having the time of their life. That's the Timber Tails promise, and it's one we take seriously every single day.

  • Timber Tails isn't your typical dog daycare. While traditional facilities may have your pup sharing space with 50 or more dogs, we keep our groups small and intentional because we believe every dog deserves real attention, not just supervision. Here, your dog gets genuine one-on-one care, healthier social interactions, and plenty of time doing what dogs love most: exploring the great outdoors. The result is a safer, richer, and more joyful experience for every single pup in our pack.
